Howick Hall and Arboretum

I have just got back from a trip up north to see family and while I was up there I visited the fantastic Howick Hall and Arboretum.

Howick is tucked away just south of Craster and about a ten minute drive from Alnwick. My sister and her husband visited in June and insisted that we go along and have a look in late summer.

The Arboretum has an amazing display of trees and shrubs and we spent a good few hours walking around playing guess the tree. My sister is particularly in love with the WingNut Tree which has beautiful strings of green flowers.

Howick is well worth a visit for beautiful walks: one of which will take you down to the sea, a fantastic array of plants and trees; and finally the most beautiful cafe in Howick Hall itself complete with wood paneling and portraits of various relations to the Earl Grey family.
